| Changnyeong is bordering Miryang as well as Cheongdo in Gyeongbuk Province to the east, Daeju and Goryeong in Gyeongbuk Province to the north and Hapcheon, Uiryeong, Haman and Changwon to the southwest. Changnyeong, which is located on the Northern part of Gyeongnam Province, has a land area equal to 532.89 square kilometers. It comprises 5.1% of Gyeongnam Province. As of December, 2005, it has the population of 65,130 with 26,852 households and is divided into 2 towns and 12 subcounties. |

Changnyeong has a lot of Buddhist legacy and name from the past. Also, it is famous for Mt. Biseul and pure valley from Ansim dale. Changnyeong is surrounded by mountains except western part, and it makes Changnyeong have very beautiful nature.
Changnyeong located in the southeastern Korean Peninsular has a continental climate. Winter is cold and dry under the influence of the Northwestern periodic wind and summer is hot and humid under the influence of the Southeastern periodic wind. In this reason, various plants and animals grow and live in. The average yearly temperature is 12.3¡É, the average in January is 1.2¡É, the average in August is 23.9¡É, and the average precipitation per year is 1,236.5 mm.
To make a base of cultural sightseeing coming up to the world standards, Changnyeong tries to utilize and unite the three resources; natural ecology, culture and hot springs recreation. It aims to make a historical sightseeing complex by the continuous restoration of the Gaya cultural area, to change the typical farming county into a high value-added industrial area, to make the progressive self-governing Changnyeong a leading knowledge and information society and to stimulate the balanced local development utilizing the local characteristics.
